FAQ

  1. What date will the payment be taken from my bank account?
  2. Collections can be taken weekly on a Friday or monthly on the 1st, 8th, 15th or 22nd.

  3. How do I cancel my Direct Debit?
  4. The easiest way to cancel your Direct Debit is for you to contact your bank direct.

  5. If my tenancy has rent catch up weeks will my Direct Debit be reduced for those periods?
  6. If you pay your Direct Debit weekly, then no rent payments will be taken on those weeks. However, if you have an arrears Direct Debit this will still be collected.

    If you pay your Direct Debit monthly, then your payments are averaged out over the year so you will be paying the same amount each month.

  7. How will my Direct Debit be calculated?
  8. Your Direct Debit is calculated by taking the amount you need to pay each week/month, multiplying it by the number of weeks/months left in the financial year, then we add or subtract any current balance and divide the total by the number of collections left in the financial year.   9. What information will I need to set up a Direct Debit?
  10. All you will need is your sort code and account number.

  11. Can someone set up a Direct Debit for me using their bank details?
  12. Yes, anyone can set up a Direct Debit but we do need to speak to the account holder first.

  13. What will happen to my Direct Debit if my housing benefit changes?
  14. Once we have been notified of the change by your Local Authority, your Direct Debit will be automatically recalculated to the new amount to ensure all payments are met.

  15. How can I change the bank account that my Direct Debit comes out of?
  16. The quickest way is to contact your bank directly and advise them of the new bank account that you want the Direct Debit to be paid from.

  17. How can I change the collection date of my Direct Debit? And, will it change the amount of the Direct Debit?

    The amount of your Direct Debit will only change if the number of remaining collections has changed because of the new collection date.
